We love this bread! It’s definitely not for the calorie counters. The recipe calls for canned mushrooms but I use fresh ~ about 2/3 of an 8 ounce package, sliced. I put the bread on aluminum foil and bring the edges up around the bread. Don’t cover it with foil. Be careful not to let the bottom of the bread burn.
Grilled Cheesy Mushroom Bread
1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 (4 ounce) can mushroom stems and pieces
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsps shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tbsps chopped green onions
1 loaf unsliced French bread
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients except the bread. Cut bread in half lengthwise and spread cheese mixture over cut sides.
Grill for about 10 minutes or until the top is lightly browned, being careful not to let the bottom burn.
Slice and serve warm.
Serves about 10.
